Transplantation

Immune suppression following transplantation

The immune system continuously fights off substances that try to invade the human body, like inorganic particles, bacteria, viruses, fungi or foreign tissue. In some cases, however, the immune system’s automatic response must be stopped, to prevent it from attacking life-saving transplants like kidneys, hearts, livers or bone marrow, through a method known as immune suppression.

Fresenius Biotech offers a medication that helps suppress the immune system’s natural rejection of transplanted organs.
